A retired teacher was beaten to death by entering the house in Bagerhat
After the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, a former school teacher was beaten and hacked to death by entering his house in Bagerhat. His wife and daughter were injured in that incident.The incident took place in Chhota Paikpara village of Rakhalgachi Union of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila last Monday night. According to the family, he died due to a land dispute
The name of the deceased person is Mrinal Kanti Chatterjee (65). He was a teacher of Madhudia Primary School. The two injured are Mrinal's wife Shefali Chatterjee (60) and daughter Jhuma Rani Chatterjee (35). They have been admitted to Bagerhat district hospital.
While undergoing treatment, Shefali Chatterjee told this reporter, "A group of people came and attacked the house on Monday evening. I still didn't understand that Myra would come like this at night. All the houses and doors are broken, everything has been taken away. Nothing.'
He is undergoing treatment in the hospital with injuries in various parts of his body including his head Mrinal's daughter Jhuma. He claimed that there was a dispute with neighbors Humayun Sheikh and Nurul Islam over their family's land. On Monday evening, Nurul Islam brought people to his house and threatened him. Later that night wearing masks attacked them vandalized and looted. The attackers took everything from the house.
Jhuma burst into tears while saying this. At one stage he said, 'I had a younger son and sister at home. I saved them by hiding them on the floor and under the bed. What is wrong with us? We are not a party. Why did they attack only us; Beat my old father to death with a hammer?'
Local residents said that the accused Humayun Sheikh and Nurul Islam Sheikh are absconding.
