There have been reports of vandalism of Durga idols under construction in two temples in Faridpur. The incident took place at 'Bhanga Bazar Sarvajanin Hari Mandir' located in Gurpatti area of Bhanga Bazar and 'Bhanga Sarvajanin Kali Mandir' located in front of Bhanga Police Station.
Sujit Saha (27), a resident of the area adjacent to the Bhanga Bazar Sarvajanin Hari temple, said that he came to the temple on Sunday morning to pay obeisance and saw that the idol had been vandalized..
A few days ago, the clay artisans finished making the idol. We were preparing to paint in a day or two.There were a total of 14 idols in this temple, out of which various parts of eight idols were broken by miscreants. When we reported the matter to the concerned police, they visited the spot and started investigation."
He also said that this temple has walls on three sides and covered with tin on top. But there is no gate in front. A total of 14 idols were built in this temple. Eight of these idols have been vandalized.

Bhanga Sarvajanin Kali Mandir is located in front of Bhanga Thana, approximately one hundred meters away from that temple. Here too, after the construction of the idol was completed, the work of painting remained.
Shibu Saha (52), a resident of that area, said that while visiting the idol under construction in the morning, he found the Ganesha idol in a broken state.
President of the temple Kashinath Saha said that such an incident has never happened before in this century old temple. The matter has been reported to Bhanga police station.
Faridpur Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Crime) Mohammad Imdad Hussain said that he came to know that idols under construction were vandalized in two temples in Bhanga.
Faridpur Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Yashin Kabir told The Daily Star that he heard this incident. Police Intelligence Department is working to identify those involved in this incident. A general diary has already been made in this regard at the police station.
The festival of idol vandalism has been going on since the bloody 2021 Sarada. Hindus of Bangladesh are extremely worried about the upcoming Durga Puja. Hindus do not have the right to worship in this country? Is the country failing to provide security to Hindus?
